WALES supporters will be able to join forces to cheer on Robert Page’s side at the World Cup at a Rodney Parade fan zone this month.
In conjunction with Newport City Council, the stadium will be open for fans to watch the action from Qatar for the group games against USA and England.
Tickets will cost £5 and will feature the action on an outdoor big screen with live music on both dates from Tinty and the Bucket Hats.
The clash with the USA is on Monday, November 21 (kick-off 7pm) and the England fixture is on Tuesday, November 29 (kick-off 7pm).
Page’s men take on Iran in between those games on Friday, November 25 but that game kicks off at 10am so a community event for local schools will be held.
Council leader Jane Mudd said: “I know many Wales supporters were calling for a Fan Zone in the city, so I’m pleased that we are able to support this event. I’m also delighted that local schoolchildren will also be offered the opportunity to watch their heroes.
“It’s been a long wait to see the national team reach the World Cup and we will be cheering them on at every match - ‘together stronger’ all the way.”
The fan zone will show England against Iran (kick-off 1pm) and Senegal versus Netherlands (kick-off 4pm) before the USA clash.
The group stage finale against Gareth Southgate’s men will be preceded by Netherlands v Qatar/Ecuador v Senegal (kick-offs 3pm).
Dragons managing director Mark Jones said: “We’re thrilled to work with Newport City Council to host an official fan zone at Rodney Parade.
“It’s going to be an historic tournament for Wales, and we look forward to welcoming fans to our home to unite together to watch the World Cup on a big screen with food, drinks and big-game atmosphere.”
