There was success for gymnasts from Valleys Gymnastics Academy at the 2023 Welsh Open Artistic Championships in Cardiff on Sunday.
Clint Alleyne's overall score of 70.000 across the apparatus saw him crowned the new Welsh men's Closed U16 champion, while also took silver in the Open section.
Alleyne also grabbed Open gold on floor, parallel bars and high bar as well as silver on rings. In the Closed section he bagged gold on those four pieces of apparatus along with bronze on pommel.
In the U18 age group, VGA's Harrison Harris and Wil Wheeler won silver and bronze respectively in the Closed all-around section.
There was apparatus gold for Harris on rings and on high bar in both the Open and Closed section, as well as floor bronze in the Open along with silver on floor, and bronze on parallel bars in the Closed.
For Wheeler, there was silver on pommel and bronze on high bar, floor and rings in the Closed.
In the U14 section, Valleys' Ben Scourse secured all-around silver in both the Open and Closed sections.
He also collected gold on vault, silver on parallel bars and bronze on floor, pommels and rings in the Open section. In the Closed section Scourse won gold on vault, silver on parallel bars and bronze on floor, pommel and rings.
The performances of the Valleys gymnasts, coached by Aled Jones and Adam Perman, helped light up the second day of two of these championships as the men took centre stage after the women's action on Saturday.
