The ABP Newport Wales Marathon 2024 returns in a few months, and upcoming road closures and race routes have been announced.
The popular race will take place on Sunday, April 28, with the main event - the marathon - starting at 9am.
This year's event is different in that a half marathon has been added to the festival line-up.
The half marathon will also begin at 9am and the 10k at 9.45am.
Newport Marathon is hailed as one of the flattest race route in Europe, with organisers boasting the stunning natural scenery along the route and "pancake flat roads".
This means runners can hope for a personal best (PB) as it has been named in a list of one of the ten fastest marathons in the world (Runners World).
Race routes
The route was created by double Olympic marathon runner Steve Brace and passes iconic Newport landmarks such as the Transporter Bridge, city centre, the riverfront and the coastal scenery of Gwent Levels.
This year the race will start and finish on Usk Way adjacent to the University of South Wales on Newport's riverfront heading South.
This year entrants can look forward to a new city centre loop going through Commercial Street.
The route will no longer go as far as Monmouthshire but will turn around in Redwick medieval village after looping around the International Sports Village, Newport Wetlands and Goldcliff areas.

What is ABP?
In 2022, it was announced that UK ports group, Associated British Ports (ABP) will sponsor running events in 2022 close to five of its locations.
Along with Newport, this includes Cardiff, Barry Island, Southampton and Cleethorpes (near ABP's Grimsby port).
Participants must be 18 or over and must finish the 26.2 mile course in under six hours, which is the event cut off time.
Full details can be found on the ABP Newport Wales Marathon 2024 website.
