THERE will be a Gwent rugby double-header in the capital in November when Pontypool and the Dragons take on Cardiff.

Pooler’s trip to the Arms Park on Saturday, November 30 in the inaugural Super Rygbi Cymru season has been moved to an earlier kick-off time of 2pm.

That is because the United Rugby Championship derby between Cardiff and the Dragons has been given a time slot of 5.15pm.

The plastic pitch at the Arms Park will allow both games to be played in quick succession, with the URC game the week after Wales’ final autumn international.

Meanwhile, Pooler will face English opponents in their build-up to the SRC season.

They will travel to Dings Crusaders on Saturday, August 10 to play round robin fixtures with the hosts and Old Redcliffians.

The following weekend Leighton Jones' men will travel to the West Midlands to play Moseley; the famous clubs have only previously met at the Snelling Sevens.

Pooler finish with a trip to Beavis Memorial Ground to face Cinderford on Saturday, August 31.

Pontypool, who finished sixth on their return to the top flight last season, start the URC on September 14 when they entertain Premiership and Premiership Cup winners Llandovery.
