BLAENAVON’S Mason Jones believes he is ‘a scary prospect for anyone’ after he beat Michael Pagani in a Cage Warriors classic in Manchester.
The 29-year-old Gwent fighter won his fourth contest on the spin since leaving the Ultimate Fighting Championship two years ago.
‘The Dragon’ won by unanimous decision after three intense rounds with Cage Warriors declaring it as a fight of the year contender.
Jones became the first fighter to beat Italy’s Pagani in the professional ranks, taking his record to 15 wins and two losses (with one no contest).
“I got to paint the canvas red and I love a war,” said the lightweight. “It has been a tough few years and I have had a lot that I have had to deal with.
“Since my fight in London in the UFC it has been a tough ride but I have got a really good management team and support network around me to help me get through it.
“We have had some opportunities that we have missed, some crazy fights but I am feeling better than ever.
“I don't think that performance shows my true calibre but I am a scary prospect for anyone.”
Jones has bounced back after seeing contract negotiations with the UFC break down.
He had a mixed run in the promotion with a win, two defeats and a no contest, feeling that he didn’t do himself justice.
Now Jones will play the waiting game to see what the future holds.
“UFC, whatever comes, I am open to any offers,” he said. “Cage Warriors has been insane for me. Whether I go back or somewhere else, it all depends on what comes in and it's exciting.”
