LIVELY winger Bobby Kamwa intends to get those in the Rodney Parade stands on their feet on his first home game for Newport County AFC.

The 24-year-old signed for the Exiles before the final pre-season friendly against Hereford and has quickly made an impression.

Kamwa, who came through the Leeds United academy and spent the last two seasons with Burton Albion in League One, started in the League Two opener at Cheltenham and was a menace.

He had three shots, was denied by a superb block and fingertip-save and won a penalty that Courtney Baker-Richardson scored.

Kamwa then added energy as a substitute in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup defeat at Leyton Orient, giving an early indication that he will be one of County’s major attacking threats this season.

They will need to new boy to be at his best if they are to cause an upset against promotion hopefuls Doncaster this afternoon.

“I am just looking to excite the fans and do what I can do to get the best out of the team so that we can get a win,” said Kamwa.

“Running with the ball is one thing that I did say I would bring to the team and I am glad that we are all on the same wavelength.

“The formation and system that the manager wants to play and with the players I’ve got around me really helps me have the freedom to express myself.

“I want the ball because I feel that I am a player who can create chances and make things happen for the team.”

Rovers head to Newport after starting the season with a 4-1 league win against Accrington and a 2-0 Carabao Cup success at Salford.

That means they have won 13 of their last 15 fixtures with one draw and a solitary defeat while the Exiles finished last season with eight losses then a new-look squad started with two disappointments.

That doesn’t faze Kamwa, who said: “We are going into the game to win. We don’t care that they’ve had a good end to last season, we are just focused on ourselves and getting three points.”
