WALES boss John Kear has named a 26-man squad featuring Super League experience and promise for the autumn internationals and a shot at the World Cup.

Led by captain Elliot Kear, the squad includes Keighley Cougars winger and former Aber Valley Wolves junior, Billy Walkley as one of twelve uncapped players.

Under 19s international Charlie Glover is in line for a first senior cap having made his Super League debut for Salford Red Devils last week.

A tough but skilful middle, Glover impressed a lot of people with his positive Super League debut and will now get his chance to shine on the international stage alongside clubmates Gil Dudson and Joe Coope-Franklin.

Leeds Rhinos reserves captain Ashton Robinson and St Helens academy graduate Ben Lane are also selected.

Rhys Williams could extend his record as Wales' most capped men's international player, as one of 13 players chosen who were part of the 2022 Rugby League World Cup squad.

Kear will select an 18-player squad to face Jamaica at The Lextan Gnoll in Neath on Tuesday, October 15 (kick-off 7.30pm) with 20 players travelling to France for the European World Cup qualifiers.

Wales face Serbia in Carcassonne on Tuesday, October 22 and if they win that then they will face the winners of France versus Ukraine on Saturday, October 26 in Perpignan.

The prize for that fixture is a place in the 2025 World Series, where the final places for the 2026 World Cup will be decided.

If Wales lose to Serbia then their 2026 World Cup hopes will be over and they will face the losers of the France and Ukraine match, also on Saturday 26 October.

“We’re excited by the three matches that await us,” said Kear. “It’s fantastic that we will be back playing in Wales after so long away, before the opportunity to take a step closer to the next World Cup.

“We have a mix of experienced heads and those who will be eager to make their mark on the international stage.

“A number of those players impressed us in the Chairman’s XIII fixture last season, and I’m sure that experience will have whetted the appetite even further for a first senior cap.”

Tickets for the game against Jamaica at The Gnoll, home of WRL partners Neath RFC, are on sale and can be purchased online.
