IT'S top against third in the return of the Cymru South when Trethomas host Llantwit Major this evening.

The pace-setting Bluebirds are in action in Ystrad Mynach on a busy night of league action when Newport City host Pontypridd United.

Trethomas won 3-2 at Ponty last time out with that game followed by a 4-1 defeat to Cymru Premier Barry Town United in the Nathaniel MG Cup and a 1-0 win at Taffs Well in the Welsh Cup.

They will aim to build on that success while Newport are looking for a reaction after being stunned by Gwent Premier League Monmouth Town 2-0.

The Steelmen are left to concentrate on the league and will aim to get back on track after being edged out by Carmarthen last time out.

Cwmbran Celtic were beaten 4-3 in the cup by Trefelin but recorded a much-needed 2-1 win against Goytre United last time out in Cymru South.

That success lifted them to 10th ahead of a Saturday afternoon trip to face second-placed Cambrian.

Ardal South East leaders Treowen Stars can make a big statement on Saturday afternoon when they host Abertillery Bluebirds.

The Newbridge side have won seven of eight games in an impressive start to the campaign, the latest success a 5-0 win at Croesyceiliog.
