KIERON Evans believes Newport County AFC can show they are a ‘force’ in League Two by upsetting Bradford City tomorrow night.

The Exiles head to Yorkshire for the televised clash with the aim of backing up home victories against Crewe and Salford County have made a promising start to the campaign under new boss Nelson Jardim after a summer of change.

Evans, on a season-long loan from Cardiff, was one of 17 summer signings and believes the new-look squad is coming together nicely.

“We have had two good wins, it’s starting to look like we are gelling together as a team so we are looking forward to Bradford now.

“The first home game we won was a lot better than the last few performances and I think the game last Tuesday was a bit better again. It’s taken a bit of time but now it is starting to look good.”

County lost 4-1 at Bradford in the final game of last season and will aim to keep the home fans quiet in one of League Two’s most impressive grounds.

“It is just something to look forward to really go there and impose ourselves on the game,” said Evans.

“You just have to not think or worry about the crowd, just worry about ourselves and doing the best we can on the pitch.

“I know it’s going to be tough away from home in this league, but if we can start picking up wins away as well as at home now we will look a right force.

“We have confidence from the last two wins to go to a ground like Bradford and get three points.

“We started really well in the last two games and looked like the team who wanted to win it more, so we have to go to Bradford with the same mindset and fight as hard as we can for the three points.”

County are without Matt Baker because of Wales Under-21s duty but are set to be boosted by the return from injury of his fellow centre-back James Clarke.

Winger Michael Spellman has featured off the bench in the last two games after coming back from a thigh injury while midfielder Kai Whitmore and Shane McLoughlin are also making good progress.

“We have boys coming back so the team is only going to get stronger. Everyone is going to fight for a position every week, so it is going to be really good and competitive,” said Evans.
