WALSALL moved to the top of League Two despite being held to a 2-2 draw at Chesterfield.

The Saddlers led twice, Nathan Lowe netting each time, but the efforts were cancelled out by Darren Oldaker and then Dilan Markanday.

They are one of four teams on 19 points, along with Gillingham, Barrow and Doncaster.

Gills dropped to second as Shilow Tracey’s double condemned them to a 2-0 defeat at Crewe.

Gillingham boss Bonner said: “I’m fuming, really, as I didn’t think it was a game we should be losing 2-0.

“I don’t think there was a lack of effort but it wasn’t good enough in the attacking half to create problems whereas Crewe with pace high up the pitch were a threat on the counter attack.”

Barrow fought back from a goal down to beat Cheltenham 2-1 at home, with Andrew Dallas scoring a late winner.

“We were superb first half,” said Cheltenham boss Michael Flynn. “We did the basics right, did everything else right and deservedly took the lead.

“The way we started the second half just put us on the back foot straight away.

“It was two poor goals for us to concede because it was too easy for them to get a cross in and I would say their goals were two almost unopposed tap-ins.”

Jordan Gibson notched a brace as Doncaster triumphed 3-0 at Grimsby, who had Harvey Rodgers sent off just before the break.

Notts County and Port Vale are both on 18 points after the latter won 1-0 at the former via a Lorent Tolaj goal.

Fleetwood are seventh following a 0-0 home draw with Bromley.

Accrington triumphed 2-1 at home over Morecambe in the battle of the division’s bottom two, Dara Costelloe scoring twice for Stanley in the first half, the opener from the penalty spot.

Stanley boss John Doolan said: “I am over the moon, I am just so happy for everyone at this club.

“We deserved three points from other games which we haven’t got so to get over the line today is superb.

“I wanted fight from the players all week, that was what we demanded.

“The players showed the fight in the individual battles, the team battles and in the end we won the war.

“I am so pleased for the lads in the dressing room. You have to enjoy it and I hope they do, it’s long overdue.

“When you go in the dressing room, everyone is hugging each other and high-fiving and they are best places when you win a game of football. Wins are everything.”

Derek Adams’ side had drawn their last four games but slipped to the bottom of the table with the defeat and are still searching for their first league win of the campaign.

He said: “We put in our worst performance of the season in the first half. We were terrible.

“We didn’t get man to man with their players and we allowed them to get a penalty kick and a goal just before half-time. In the first half it was exceptionally poor and that was a huge disappointment.

“Coming into a game like this and putting on your worst performance, it wasn’t good.

“The second half, we got a bit better, we got a goal back, but we didn’t play to the levels we have done this season. That’s hugely disappointing.

“We had a large following of supporters, they have paid good money and we need to be better than we were.”

There was also a 1-0 win for Salford over AFC Wimbledon thanks to a goal against the run of play in the 83rd minute through Junior Luamba’s composed finish.

MK Dons drew 1-1 with Tranmere after Regan Hendry levelled at the death for the visitors after Joe White’s opener.

It finished goalless between Colchester and Carlisle and also Swindon and Harrogate.
