Newport boxing legend David "Bomber" Pearce has been posthumously inducted into the Ex-Boxers British Boxing Hall of Fame.
The award ceremony took place at the Mercure Hotel in Cardiff was attended by boxing greats including John L Conteh, John L Stracey, Duke Mckenzie, Clinton Mckenzie, Toby Sibson and Derek Williams.
More recent stars such as Anthony Crolla, Carl Frampton, Joe Cordina, Robbie Turley and Lauren Price were there as were Gavin Gwynne and Craig Woodruff.
Chairman of the BBHoF David Harris said: "David was unique at that period of time and the unanimous consensus across our British members is Pearce would have been the first Cruiserweight World Champion to come from Great Britain.
"Unfortunately during those years the division was only recognised in the USA."
Wynford Jones, British Boxing Board of Control representative, steward and historian speaker, gave a speech about David Pearce which received rapturous applause from the sold out audience.
Mr Eddie Avoth, former British and Empire Light Heavyweight champion, presented the award to Luke and Nigel Pearce at the event.
