NEWPORT City will hope they don't have to leave it quite as late as they did in August when they host Penrhiwceiber Rangers in Cymru South this evening.

The Steelmen claimed all three points when the teams met at Glasbrook Field earlier in the campaign thanks to a late charge.

Louie Caramella-Gerrard levelled in the 85th minute and Nat Jarvis scored the winner deep into added time for Newport.

Sam Houldsworth’s side were not in action last weekend after being knocked out of the Welsh Cup by Monmouth, so head into tonight’s game aiming to build on a solid point away to Llantwit Major.

Cwmbran Celtic head west to Ammanford with the clubs having identical records of four wins and seven defeats from their 11 games.

Celtic beat their rivals 4-0 when they met at Avondale Motor Park in August thanks to goals by Cole Doolan, Dom Connor and Thomas Meechan (2).

Trethomas Bluebirds are likely to be knocked off top spot this evening – and could drop as low as fifth - so will attempt to respond at Goytre United on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds head to Port Talbot in high spirits despite being knocked out of the Welsh Cup last weekend.

Mark Dunford’s side impressed on the road when taking Cymru Premier high-flyers Haverfordwest to penalties before suffering defeat from the spot.

Cymru South: Friday - Afan Lido v Trefelin BGC, Ammanford v Cwmbran Celtic, Cambrian United v Caerau Ely, Carmarthen Town v Llantwit Major, Llanelli Town v Taffs Well, Newport City v Penrhiwceiber Rangers; Saturday - Baglan Dragons v Pontypridd United, Goytre United v Trethomas Bluebirds.

CUP DRAW

PILL, Goytre and Rogerstone will all go on their travels to try and cause upsets in round three of the Welsh Cup.

The Gwent trio were drawn away for the ties, which will be played on the weekend of November 15.

Goytre, 12th in Ardal South East, beat Cardiff Draconians 1-0 on Tuesday and now have a long trip north from Penperlleni to face Cymru North leaders Airbus UK.

There will be a pair of Cymru South versus Gwent Premier League fixtures.

Pill won 3-2 at Monmouth Town and their reward is a trip west to face Llanelli Town while Rogerstone's 4-2 success at Cardiff Bay Warriors has earned a crack at Caerau Ely.
