NEWPORT County AFC are considering closing a section of terrace behind the dugouts at Rodney Parade after an object was thrown onto the field for the second game on the bounce.
The Exiles have stated that an incident took place in the 4-2 defeat to Peterborough in the first round of the FA Cup, when the League One side struck twice in the closing stages to progress.
County say that the club are now facing disciplinary action and potentially a fine from the Football Association after a similar incident in the 0-0 draw with Fleetwood in League Two the previous weekend.
That could lead to them banning fans from the section of the Riverside Stand terrace immediately behind both the home and away dugouts.
“It is the second consecutive game that an object has been thrown from the terracing behind the dug-out into the technical area,” read a County statement.
“This is despite a public warning in the week that future incidents could lead to a fine for the club, plus stadium bans and potential prosecution for individuals.
“The club is currently reviewing CCTV footage and details of any individual seen throwing an object will be forwarded to the police for potential prosecution and receive an immediate stadium ban.
“The club will also consider closing the terrace immediately behind the dug-out for future games, as it has done in the past.
“We remind supporters once again that this behaviour is completely unacceptable, dangerous, and we will maintain our zero-tolerance policy going forward.”
County are next at home when they entertain Grimsby in League Two on November 16.
