THE Dragons eased to a 73-21 win against the Scarlets in a development fixture after running in 11 tries in Newport.
The Rodney Parade club took the spoils comfortably as several youngsters gave the senior coaches a nudge ahead of the return for the next block of fixtures in the United Rugby Championship and Challenge Cup.
The Dragons raced into a 33-0 lead in the first half thanks to braces by wing Ewan Rosser and centre David Richards, who was formerly on their books as a player but is now on the commercial team while playing for Newport RFC.
Hooker Sam Scarfe scored the fifth from a driving maul before his opposite number Joe Rees got the visitors on the scoreboard to make it 33-7 at the break.
Rhodri Lewis and Iori Basham went over for the west Walians either side of a close-range effort by Dragons back rower Evan Minto.
Minto went over again approaching the hour and then prolific Newport speedster Lloyd Lewis scored from a cross-kick to make it 54-21.
The Dragons then hit double figures for tries thanks to a pair of quickfire scores by Wales Under-20s winger Harry Rees-Weldon before a final interception score by Lewis from distance.
The Dragons play another development fixture on Saturday when they take on the Ospreys at St Helen’s in Swansea.
