NEWPORT County crashed out of the Setanta Shield at Bath City, losing 4-1 at Twerton Park.
The City front pair of Dave Gilroy and Darren Edwards were full of threat against an experimental County defence which included 18-year-old Dan Harrison and trialist left-back Callum Hart.
County ‘keeper Glyn Thomspon saved his side twice before Craig Reid gave the Exiles the lead on 33 minutes following good play from Kris Leek.
But by half-time Bath led 2-1 thanks to two goals in three minutes from Gilroy, the second laid on by ex-County winger Richard Evans.
Gilroy sealed the win with his hat-trick on 54 minutes before Edwards completed the rout in the 62nd minute.
