Glamorgan Cricket has confirmed that tickets for the much-anticipated first npower Ashes Test match will go on public sale on Monday. Ashes fever has well and truly descended on Cardiff and unsurprisingly, the demand for tickets for the England v Australia re-match has been unprecedented, not least, for the opening encounter in the 5-match Test Series.
On July 8th 2009, the eyes of the sporting world will be on Cardiff. The 1st npower Ashes Test match will be a historic event – the first time a “home” Test match is played outside of England.
Over the past few years Cardiff has successfully hosted a number of high profile sporting events (including several FA Cup Finals, Carling Cup Finals, Heineken Cup Finals and Challenge Cup Rugby League finals).
Tickets for the 1st npower Ashes Test in Cardiff will be released at 9am on Monday and can be purchased by logging on to www.glamorgancricket.com or by calling a dedicated sales hotline on 08449 670701. With the exceptional demand for tickets, the club is increasing its capacity with additional temporary seating. This will result in a second on-sale date in the New Year, once the total number of additional seats has been confirmed. Details of this will be posted on the club’s website.
Glamorgan’s Chairman Paul Russell said: “We want to give all our supporters the best possible chance of getting their hands on tickets. As a result, we are releasing over 6,000 tickets for general sale in November and a further 6,000 tickets in January.”
Glamorgan Cricket has also created a number of packages in which fans can guarantee their tickets. These are as follows: * purchasing a 5 or 10 year ticket; * joining the Silver Club * purchasing a fully ticketed hospitality package.
Supporters enquiring about any of the packages should call the club on 029 2041 9324. The 1st npower Ashes Test match will be played in Cardiff between Wednesday 8th – Sunday 12th July, 2009.
