OSPREYS forward Jonathan Thomas has been banned for two weeks - ruling him out of Wales' autumn Test opener against New Zealand.
Thomas, a candidate to make Wales coach Warren Gatland's starting line-up on Saturday week, was cited for striking an opponent during Ospreys' 20-12 Magners League defeat against Cardiff Blues last weekend.
A Welsh Rugby Union disciplinary panel, chaired by independent solicitor Roger Morris, tonight imposed a fortnight's ban.
It means Thomas, a back-row or second-row option for Gatland, cannot play again until November 12.
Wales continue their autumn campaign against Samoa on November 13, followed by November appointments with Argentina and Australia.
Thomas, 26, was named in Gatland's squad for the autumn internationals last weekend.
