NEWPORT secured their first away win of the season in some style by beating Aberavon 27-20 at the Talbot Athletic Ground after going so close to taking Pontypridd’s home record last week.
Cross Keys had replacement back Will Johnstone to thank for helping them on their way to a 20-13 over Bedwas in a hard-fought derby clash.
His well-taken try with just minutes left took the spoils after impressive openside Robert Nash got a first half touchdown at Pandy Park.
Fullback Gareth David also played his part, kicking ten points in the form of two penalties and two conversions.
Ebbw Vale let a first half lead slip but got a bonus point after going down 22-24 at Eugene Cross Park to Llandovery.
There was more agony for Pontypool after they went down to another heavy home defeat when Premiership new boys Carmarthen Quins walloped them by 40-10.
