NEWPORT Wasps have snapped up Swedish ace Kim Nilsson for the 2010 season.
The 19-year-old made an excellent debut for the Wasps at Redcar Speedway in mid-September, winning two races in his first British Speedway match including a victory by quite a margin over the home side's number one Ty Proctor.
He continued his good form by finishing as top scorer against Sheffield Tigers in the last meeting of the season.
Those were Newport's final league matches of the 2009 season so anticipation was high that he would agree terms for a first full season with the club.
Wasps co-promoter Nick Mallett said: 'I went out to Sweden in October and was very impressed by Kim's dedication in the workshop and his general focus on succeeding in the sport.
“Newport fans will no doubt share my pleasure that such a talented rider will be in our colours.”
Kim joins fellow Swede Jonas Andersson and New Zealander Grant Tregoning as team members for next season.
