THE talking point in the league was the alleged assault on a referee last week.
The first division game between Lliswerry and Sporting Baneswell was abandoned after 55 minutes due to the alleged assault.
A player will face the Gwent County Association disciplinary committee enquiry and the club concerned will be dealt with by the Newport & District Football League.
The League is the starting point for referees to progress up the pyramid system in Welsh Football.
Any assault on referees deters would-be referees from taking up the whistle and limits the number of referees the district leagues have each Saturday. The outcome of the enquiry will be of interest to all players, clubs and referees.
