Newport Everest Group Wasps made a wasted journey to the Isle of Wight for a Premier Trophy meeting last night after heavy rain caused a postponement.
It is likely that the meeting will now be staged next Tuesday.
The Wasps are at Somerset on Friday evening in the Premier Trophy with the return at Newport on Sunday.
And there will also be a second-half meeting between the Mavericks and Somerset, the teams level at 12-12, the first meeting reduced to four heats from six because of the time curfew at the Oak Tree Arena.
Newport promoter Tim Stone said: "I spoke to the Islanders promoter Dave Pavitt late morning and we both knew that rain was due but it was forecast to move on in the early evening.
"However, we got to the island about 6pm and after an inspection by the referee we decided to call it a day because there was no break in the cloud. The rain just stayed around longer than predicted.
"It is 99 per cent that we will be back on the island next Tuesday."
