NEWPORT County manager Peter Beadle was understandably elated after his side clinched Conference South survival with an extremely polished and professional victory at Cambridge City on Saturday.
Beadle remained calm at the end of the game until it was confirmed to him that both Hayes and Carshalton had failed to win, but he couldn't hide his delight once he knew that his side were safe.
He said: "Of course it is a terrific feeling to have guaranteed we stay up, I am absolutely delighted for everyone at the club.
"First and foremost I am delighted for this group of players, I stuck by them when things weren't going well and told the board I believed they could keep us up and they have repaid my faith in them.
"Our run of late has been terrific, the players to a man have proved they deserve to be here and wear the shirt and I can only congratulate them.
"I am pleased for the board and the chairman who put so much time and effort into the club and I am delighted for our supporters who are nothing short of amazing.
"They put their hands in their pockets to give us the best possible preparation for Saturday's game by paying for us to stay in a hotel and then two or three hundred of them came down themselves and they sung from start to finish.
"It is a marvellous day for Newport County and now we can look forward to playing Thurrock on Saturday in a celebration of what we have achieved in the last few weeks, rather than worrying about losing and getting relegated."
County survived a difficult opening 30 minutes against Cambridge before racing into a two-goal lead and Beadle was full of praise for the way his side controlled the game in the second half.
"It was a difficult opening for us against a side who play quick and attractive football," he said.
"But once we got the two goals I thought we controlled things in a very comfortable manner, we always looked in command and we knew what we had to do.
"Everything I have asked of the players they did on Saturday, they kept things simple and did the little things very well indeed. Hopefully we can continue to do that and push on next season.
"Our form at the moment is that of a top six team, now we can start looking forward and believing that we have finally turned the corner."
