PONTYPOOL bagged a crucial bonus point victory against Llanelli this evening, but they very nearly threw it away.

Pooler raced into a 27-0 lead early in the second half thanks to tries from Steve Taylor (2), Phil Price and Geraint O’Driscoll.

But the visitors came roaring back and got a bonus point of their own thanks to efforts by Steffan Phillips, Chris Keenan, Scott Williams and a penalty try.

However, the hosts held on and are now 12 points clear of Ebbw Vale with three games left. The bottom two clash at Eugene Cross Park on Saturday.
