CROSS Keys are looking for a repeat of last week’s intense midweek display when they welcome Cardiff to Pandy Park this evening (kick-off 7.15pm).

The Keys destroyed Llanelli last Tuesday with a well-drilled and feisty performance, scoring five tries in a 29-10 success.

Saturday’s encounter with Swansea is their last of the campaign and coach Greg Woods is looking for a big push as they enter the finishing straight.

“I want us to take our form from the Llanelli game into these games,” said Woods. “Against Cardiff I want the same intensity, attitude, hunger and leg speed.

“There are just two games left for us and we have the chance to finish on a high against two teams at the top of the table.

“The end is in sight for us and because we are not going to be in the playoffs there is no long, hard slog looming so I have asked for a final effort.

“We have got a good home record and we want it to stay that way. There are plenty of players in action who have represented both clubs, so it should be a good game.”

Keys saw their faint hopes of a play-off berth ended with a narrow 13-10 defeat at Carmarthen Quins at the weekend and it was another case of one that got away.

“We could easily have won it but that has been the story for us all year,” said Woods. “We have to learn to finish teams off and show a bit more composure at the death.”

Leon Andrews, one of Keys’ star performers this season, has swapped the Pandy Park slope for the ski slopes. Carl Pocock starts in his place at outside centre.
