NEWPORT County star Charlie Henry is determined to put one over Dover on Saturday after the weekend’s Hampshire horror show.

The 4-0 drubbing at Havant & Waterlooville hit Henry, teammate Jamie Collins and manager Dean Holdsworth even harder than most.

The trio are all former Hawks players and they were embarrassed by the performance on their old stomping ground.

But Henry insists the players will put things right against second-placed Dover Athletic at Spytty Park this weekend.

A win will take the Exiles to the magical 100-point target before they finally get their hands on the Blue Square South trophy after the match.

“It was disappointing, especially at my old club,” said Henry.

“I really wanted to go there and put in a good performance but we never really showed up. We just weren’t at the races.

“We looked leggy and maybe it was one game too far,” added the 23-year-old winger.

“But we haven’t got a game in mid-week this week so we can concentrate on Dover and putting things right against them.”

The Kent side are County’s nearest challengers in the league in second place, albeit 23 points behind Holdsworth’s men.

They confirmed their place in the top five with a 2-0 win over relegated Weymouth at the weekend and may be tempted to rest players ahead of the play-offs.

But, despite neither side having much to play for, Henry insists that the Exiles will be determined to keep their unbeaten home record and to make history by reaching the three-figure points total.

“We’ve got two games to do it but it would be brilliant to do it at home and especially against Dover,” said Henry.

“We would really like to get one over Andy Hessenthaler after what he said about us spraying champagne at their place earlier in the season.

“We didn’t have any champagne then but we’ll certainly be spraying a bit about after the game on Saturday when we get the trophy.

“It will be another great party for the fans and hopefully we can top off the season at home with a good win and forget all about what happened at Havant.”
