NEWPORT shrugged off the loss of flanker Sam Waldron, red-carded after 19 minutes of last night’s Premiership game at Carmarthen Park, to stun Carmarthen Quins with a six-try salvo in a 47-14 victory.

Black and Ambers outside-half Lewis Robling kicked a third minute penalty before Quins hit back with a tenth minute try by lock Sione Timani which was converted by James Garland.

Waldron got his marching orders for an alleged stamp but Newport’s 14 men continued to dominate.

They were gifted tries by Scott Williams, his co-centre Adam Hughes and winger Mike Poole with the Quins’ defence in disarray.

Robling kick two conversions and a penalty for a 25-7 half-time lead.

Robling kicked his third penalty after 50 minutes and a great run by flanker Richard Dale created a second try for Poole on the hour.

Strong Quins pressure at a close range scrum led to a penalty try after 70 minutes, converted by replacement number 10 Gareth Cull.

Newport wrapped up a well-deserved win with a second try by Scott Williams.

And they got another touchdown through substitute fly-half Chris Wannell who added two conversions.
