YOU can call them the champions, the Exiles or the Amber Army, but manager Dean Holdsworth wants a new nickname for his record-breaking side… ‘The Untouchables.’ And the boss is promising that County’s pursuit of 103 points for the season will mean play-off hopefuls Braintree Town can expect no favours in tomorrow’s season ending trip to Essex.

Braintree are ahead in the race for a play-off spot, knowing that just like Bath City, their destiny is in their own hands, with three points guaranteeing a top five finish.

However, with Woking and Holdsworth’s old club Havant and Waterlooville hot on their tails, County may yet still have a huge say if they beat Braintree, with St Albans in the same position at Twerton Park.

And after sealing the magical 100-point marker against Dover Athletic last weekend that guarantees County go up with a record breaking points tally, Holdsworth insists it is vital that his charges finish the job.

“If we can get to 103 points, I think ultimately that would be a record that stands for a hell of a long time, I can’t really see anyone repeating that,” he said.

“We want to be remembered as a great side and I think if we can win tomorrow, we can rightly call ourselves the untouchables. It would be such a shame to end an amazing season on a bum note and that’s what I have told the players.

“I am really looking forward to the game. The sun is shining, we’ll have a sea of amber fans in the ground and we are going there as champions. What’s not to like?”

Holdsworth insists Woking and his mates from old club Havant and Waterlooville can expect County to be at their very best. “We won’t be doing anyone any favours, we are focused on ourselves,” he said.

“But the managers involved (Adie Britton at Bath, Robbie Garvey at Braintree, Graham Baker at Woking and Shaun Gale at Havant) can rest assured that we are focused on getting three points and maybe that will help Havant or Woking.

“It’s all about us being the best we can be and those four managers need to know that we will be as professional as we can be and that I will be picking a side to win the game.

“All of those managers want the best for their club and I am no different, so we will be going all out for the win.

The Exiles travel to Essex with just one absentee, Martyn Giles unavailable due to a reoccurrence of a long-standing back complaint.

Striker Sam Foley is in the squad after a fractured leg and Holdsworth will once again be faced with selection headaches with fierce competition throughout.

Meanwhile the Argus understands that a further four players in the current squad – all first team regulars – have opened contract talks, with several more set to discuss their futures with Holdsworth next Tuesday before the players and staff leave for an end of season trip to Las Vegas.

“It’s important I sit down with the boys as soon as possible, we want to see what everyone is thinking and will take it from there, but I expect to have lots of news next week,” the boss confirmed.
