ONE of the legends of the sport of jump racing is at Chepstow Racecourse for its family fun day on Bank Holiday Monday.
Bob Champion and Aldaniti made Grand National history 29 years ago when the jockey defeated cancer and his horse overcame a career-threatening injury to win the world's greatest steeplechase.
Their feat was made into a movie – Champions.
Now Bob is travelling 10,000 miles to all 60 British racecourses in the space of 60 days to raise funds for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and the Injured Jockeys Fund.
The trip began at Ascot Racecourse in mid-April, and finishes at the Berkshire racecourse again during Royal Ascot in June.
Chepstow general manager Richard Holland said: “Bob Champion is one of the most famous ever jump jockeys and we will be delighted to welcome him to Chepstow Racecourse on Bank Holiday Monday during his Champions 60:60 Charity Challenge.”
The event's website www.champions6060.org.uk has all the information for people to find out more and to register for a place to join Bob Champion at the races.
