IT’S been quite an eventful April to say the least! Four County Championship games before May, two one day games and not a day lost to the weather!
It has been the busiest start to a season for a very long time and it almost feels like August with the amount of cricket we have played.
It’s been a hectic start with three of our four championship games being away along with a long trip to Manchester last Sunday for a one day fixture.
This has meant a lot of time spent our team bus.
Everyone now has a little space of their own; the young lads (the crèche) sit at the back normally watching films on the widescreen television (of what variety I’m not sure)!
The management have their section at the front where their plan and plot the downfall of the opposition.
Unfortunately I have positioned myself right next to the toilet which at times doesn’t seem to work or flush, but it doesn’t stop the boys using it!
This has made our bus journeys feel a lot longer than they should do! You can only imagine!
Luckily our trip to Worcester last week was only an hour away, much to my delight!
It was to be a fantastic occasion for the team and particularly myself.
To win a four day game in two days is something that only comes along once or twice in a career.
It didn’t start particularly well for me with my first ball going for four!
With a little help from the pitch and the Worcester batman I was able to pick career best figures of 7-45.
It was a special moment and a great feeling to receive texts and phone calls from friends and family afterwards.
To celebrate in the dressing room with the lads after the game is a great feeling especially when some are very close friends.
Anyone who is involved in a team sport and has just won a big match will understand I’m sure.
After the celebrations had calmed down it was off to Manchester for our one day fixture with Lancashire on Sunday.
Although, surprisingly enough, we were greeted at the hotel by the BBC Wales cameras.
They were here for the next 24 hours to film James Harris our up and coming superstar.
As I am his room-mate, the camera seemed to follow us everywhere, from the golf course on the Saturday, breakfast on the Sunday morning, team bus to the ground and the changing rooms at Old Trafford.
It should be interesting viewing on Friday night (BBC Sport Wales at 9pm), seeing my hooked tee shot and tucking into my full English breakfast on the Sunday morning!
During the game against Lancashire I witnessed two of the best one day innings I have ever seen.
Tom Maynard played an outstanding innings of 103 in 67 balls against experienced international bowlers.
He oozes talent and ability and if he keeps playing the way he is, who knows where he might end up? England? IPL? Watch this space.
Lancashire were chasing 272 and at 70 -3 looked in trouble until Ashwell Price got to the crease. He made batting look easy and never looked in trouble when chasing their target of 272.
Last week was also the launch of the new Swalec Premier Cricket League in South Wales.
I have been assigned to Ynysygerwn in West Wales.
With two Glamorgan players assigned to each county there is going to be some fierce rivalry in our dressing room.
Also coming soon will be the battle to end them all against my brother Adam who plays for local rivals Pontarddulais.
I can only hope I come out on top as I’m not sure I could take the leg pulling from the family!
