THERE was late drama at Rodney Parade this evening as Newport scored two injury time tries to beat Cornish Pirates 34-32.
The British and Irish Cup holders looked set for glory when they led 32-20 in the closing stages.
But hooker Andrew Brown cut the deficit and then wing Owen Broad scorched over, replacement fly-half Matthew Jones converting both for a famous win.
Canadian full-back Matt Evans had earlier crossed for two tries while Tyrone Holmes (2) and Chris Morgan scored pushover tries for the visitors, with centre Tom Luke securing the Pirates' bonus point with a weaving effort.
Newport, however, hit back late for five points while the visitors had to be content with two.
