NEWPORT light-heavyweight Justyn Hugh makes his comeback after more than a year out of the ring at the Newport Centre on Saturday, February 5.
The unbeaten 26-year-old has not fought since a points victory over James Tucker at the same venue in November 2009 having been sidetracked by personal problems throughout last year.
But now Hugh is back and champing at the bit ahead of the George & Dragon Promotions show.
“It feels great to be back, I just can’t wait to get in the ring and put on a show for my fans,” he said. “Training has been going really well. I’ve been sparring with James DeGale and I’m raring to go.”
Hugh paid tribute to trainer Tony Borg at St Joseph’s gym in Newport for his support during a difficult 12 months.
“It’s been a great help to have such fantastic support from Tony and all the boys at the gym,” he explained.
“They all helped me through it and have backed me 100%.
“Tony has been behind me all the way. He’s trained me every day and I’ve done everything right to get the weight down and I just can’t wait for the fight to come now.”
Hugh’s opponent has not yet been confirmed. His St Joseph’s stablemates Rob Turley and Matthew Edmonds headline the show.
Turley takes on Paul Economides for the Welsh super-bantamweight title and Edmonds faces Shaun Doherty for the British Masters super-bantam belt.
