JOE Bearman made a successful return to regional action last Friday evening as the Dragons convincingly tamed Sale Sharks, but his eyes are firmly on silverware.

The Men of Gwent take on the Scarlets today knowing a win will secure them only their second semi-final spot in a major competition since the emergence of regional rugby in 2003.

Back-rower Bearman suffered a career threatening groin injury in 2009, but his recovery at Edgeley Park saw him recapture the essence of old which has twice won him South Wales Argus Gwent Player of the Year.

Focusing on the future has been imperative for the Cornishman, who narrowly missed out on a national debut due to the same long-standing groin problem having finally secured residency as a Welshman, but he remains confident of success in the LV=Cup.

“As long as all the boys stick at it this weekend, then we will definitely be in the semis, and who knows where after that – this cup is there for us.”

“Last Friday was a great result for the boys and I really enjoyed being out there with them again, we just need to take that on now and into the Scarlets game.”

The players have endured a tough last week with the uncertainty surrounding the suspension of head coach Paul Turner, but a victory over the West Walians would galvanise the team ahead of their golden ticket to the knockout stages.

“It will be great for the club," he added. "We haven’t got a lot to look forward to at the moment when we play and this cup is really keeping our season alive.”
