CEFN Fforest fighter Rob Turley beat Paul Economides of Connah's Quay to win the Welsh super-bantamweight title at the Newport Centre last night.
The 23-year-old took the verdict by 99 point to 92 to take home the belt, his first as a professional.
But there was disappointment for Turley's St Joseph's stablemate Matthew Edmonds, who lost his British Masters super-bantam title fight to Bradford's Shaun Doherty.
The 26-year-old from Newport was leading going into the final round but was knocked down three times and the referee stepped in to stop the fight with just over a minute left on the clock.
Cardiff's Luke Robinson, son of former world champion Steve Robinson, won his pro debut in impressive style against Craig Dyer and there was also a win for Newport's Justyn Hugh.
