NEWBRIDGE’S Bradley Pryce faces Londoner Colin Lynes at the Olympia in Liverpool tonight looking to get back on the title trail.

The former Team Calzaghe star, now trained by his ex-stablemate Gary Lockett, was due to fight Sam Webb for the British light-middleweight title in Brentwood last week before his opponent pulled out with a back injury.

Lynes, a former British and European light-welterweight champion, is a tough opponent to take on at short notice but Pryce is confident of victory.

“Our records are pretty similar but he’s stepping up to welterweight and I’m coming down so my power should be decisive,” said the 29-year-old, himself a former Commonwealth light-middleweight champion.

“I’m looking to stop him in the middle rounds and if I do that I should be in line for a title fight sooner rather than later.”

Lockett said: “I’m confident Bradley will have too much for Lynes and if he wins after beating two other ex-champions in Ted Bami and Michael Lomax in his last three fights he can’t keep getting ignored.”

Pontypool’s Jeff Evans is also on the live Sky Sports bill, taking on Birmingham’s James Tucker in a four-round contest.
