AUSTRALIAN Neil Robertson staged a stirring comeback from 2-0 down to beat Nigel Bond 4-2 at the Newport Centre last night.
The 2007 Welsh Open champions earned a last 16 meeting with Graeme Dott.
Robertson nearly missed the German Masters after losing his passport but was in Newport in plenty of time yesterday. "Luckily I didn't need a passport for this one so I could prepare properly!" he joked.
Dott also had to come from behind, losing the first frame to Jamie Burnett but recovering to win 4-1. He made a fine 45 clearance in frame two then added the next two with a top break of 67. Dott needed a snooker on the last red in frame five, but got it and eventually won it on the black.
"I've played well all season, the only first round match I lost was against Neil at the World Open," said 2006 world champion Dott. "I got to the semis in Germany last week so it's good to keep winning."
