GLAMORGAN wicketkeeper Mark Wallace is confident that the new-look county is ready to string some success together in limited overs cricket.

The Dragons host the Essex Eagles tonight in their third Clydesdale Bank40 contest (4.40pm start) under the lights as they look to bounce back from successive defeats.

They’ve enjoyed a better sequence of results in the four day format, but Wallace is confident things are about to change for the better in all competitions.

“We aren’t happy with the results so far, they’ve been far from ideal and I would think we need to win one of our next two,” he said.

“But there are plenty of games to go and we feel we are playing well enough, we just need to bring our batting and bowling displays together. So far, if we’ve batted well we’ve struggled with the ball and visa versa.”

It’s been all change at the Swalec Stadium this year with Matthew Mott in as coach and Alviro Petersen joining as skipper.

Wallace admits it was an unsettling period but insists there is no division whatsoever in the Glamorgan ranks.

“The camp has settled down, the summer was an interesting time and what happened happened but we are paid to play cricket and the boys are just getting on with things.

“It’s been a tough start for Alviro, he doesn’t know the players too well, or English conditions and yet he’s come in and been brave enough to put pressure on himself as captain.

“We’re helping him along and he really cares about his own performance and how the team are doing.

“He’s incredibly passionate, I take my hat off to him for that.”
