GAVIN Henson got more game time for Toulon today but the French side had a thoroughly miserable afternoon after being hammered 27-3 at Montpellier.

This heavy defeat means they miss out on qualifying for the Top 14 play-offs after failing to finish in the first six.

The Wales centre came on in the second half as a replacement but failed to make much of an impact in a side that was simply overwhelmed.

Henson, 29, was back in the Toulon squad after the club handed him a one-week ban following an incident with teammates in a nightclub.

The former Ospreys man and Grand Slam winner in 2005 and 2008 could make his Wales comeback against the Barbarians next month.
