IT was great to get a home victory last Saturday. It has been a long time coming but the team changes have worked.
Justin Sedgmen made an excellent start with his double-figure scores in his first matches for the Wasps away and at home.
Jason Doyle is finding how tough the number one jacket can prove to be at Newport but he is a class act and we will see more points from him soon.
Unfortunately Justin and I were involved in the most bizarre accident of my career when he took me off after the conclusion of heat 15.
I suffered a badly cut finger and took such a whack on my thigh when I came down that I have been stiff as a board all week and taking hot baths to try to get some movement back.
I have suffered about £1,000-worth of damage in the crash and had to pop up to Phil Crump to sort my bike out and there was Justin!
He was beside himself that he had decked me but I told him that while it is not the best idea to knock your captain off his machine I knew it was a pure accident and he should forget about it.
He is a good lad and a great capture for the Wasps. In the match against Sheffield I had taken forward my form the previous evening when I qualified for the British Final at Wolverhampton on June 6 with a double-figure display at Scunthorpe.
I would have much rather been with the team at Edinburgh but faced a 28-day ban if I didn't ride in the semi-final.
So I thought, as I was there, I had better give it a go.
Tonight it is the Plymouth Devils at Queensway Meadows (tapes up 7pm) and I want us to keep the momentum up and seek that consecutive home victory as we look to turn our season around.
