GLAMORGAN captain Alviro Petersen urges his team to get their FL t20 campaign back on track in Cardiff tonight when they clash with Sussex (7pm start).
The South African was furious with his team after they narrowly lost to Essex in the final over on Tuesday.
But Petersen said Glamorgan can put things right this evening at Cardiff’s Swalec Stadium.
“We just played arguably one of the poorest t20 games of the season,” he said after Essex’s four wicket victory with just a ball to spare.
“You have to play good cricket in all areas to win t20 cricket. We didn’t have enough runs on the board and our fielding wasn’t up to standard.
“It was good to bring it into the last over,” added the South Africa opening batsman.
“It could have been different had we taken our catches and if a couple of things had gone our way. But at the end we weren’t good enough and we didn’t deserve to get a victory.”
Petersen, who took over as skipper from Jamie Dalrymple, said the Welsh county need a win after their recent last-gasp defeats to Essex and Kent a fortnight ago.
“It’s a massive game,” he said. “We’ve come unstuck here in two games at the Swalec Stadium, which we wanted to make our fortress.
“We want to get back to winning ways against Sussex. They’re a tough team, they’re top of our group and we really want to compete against the very best. I think it’s a great opportunity tonight to do just that.”
Former England star Simon Jones is in the squad after his mixed return for the county on loan this week.
He took a wicket and was responsible for a run out but proved expensive at 1-39 and dropped a golden chance to put Essex on the rack in the final over.
Dragons squad: Alviro Petersen (captain), Mark Cosgrove, Jim Allenby, Ben Wright, Chris Cooke, Gareth Rees, Mark Wallace (wicket-keeper), Graham Wagg, David Brown, Robert Croft, Dean Cosker, Will Owen, Alex Jones and Simon Jones.
