The Premier League fixtures resume at Queensway Meadows this Saturday evening when the Newport Wasps face the Scunthorpe Scorpions with tapes up from 7pm.
The management of the Lincolnshire club have been busy this week importing one of Denmark's top Under-21 riders Michael Palm Toft to bolster their side. Along with Finnish international Tero Aarnio - Michael is expected to give support to the accomplished David Howe at the top end of the scoring chart.
However, Scunthorpe also have an interesting reserve pairing with another young Dane Thomas Jorgensen expected to do well and young Englishman Steve Worrall one of the finds of recent seasons.
However, it is a new-look Wasps team who have benefited from the acquisition of Jason Doyle, Charlie Gjedde and Justin Sedgmen and there is confidence in the camp as expressed by club captain Leigh Lanham: “Although we haven't ridden a complete match as a team since June 4 when we overcame Glasgow by 20 points all of us have ridden during the break and so no excuses when the tapes rise on Saturday evening. We have every potential to rise up the league table and are confident of beating Scunthorpe.”
