NEWPORT County’s trip to Chepstow tonight is in essence a trial game with eight or nine unfamiliar faces set to feature, writes Michael Pearlman.
The Exiles travel to their Gwent neighbours (kick-off 6.30pm) with a number of players hoping to earn a contract with the Conference outfit.
They include midfielders Bo Ampleford and Adam Smith, as revealed yesterday, along with another French player who we’ve been asked not to name and young midfielder Guillaume Velez, who like Smith is from the Toulouse academy.
Hudson will also run the rule over former Wycombe winger Jerome Federico, former Portsmouth defender Callum Reynolds and two young goalkeepers.
Another player, understood to be a striker who was with a Conference side last term, is also playing and the Argus understands he will be offered a deal tomorrow should he impress.
Hudson is expecting to field all of his triallists and will supplement the side with the likes of Ryan Newman, Troy Greening and left back Andrew Hughes.
“It’s a great chance to look at the guys outside of training and I am looking forward to it,” he said.
