LEE Churcher is promising his home town fans fireworks at the Pill Millennium Centre on Saturday night.
The 30-year-old Newport middleweight knows time is against him if he is to fulfil his ambitions in boxing.
And after winning his last fight, against Louis Byrne in Plymouth in just 43 seconds, he’s predicting more of the same against Costas Osben this weekend.
“I’ll be dropping him quickly,” said Churcher.
“I won my last fight in 43 seconds and I’ll be going for the kill again because I need to start making statements.
“I’ve sold 100 tickets and I want to entertain my fans. I’ve had enough of points wins, it’s all about knock-outs from now on.”
Churcher’s impatience stems from his desperately disappointing last outing in Newport.
His Welsh title fight against Gary Cooper at the Newport Centre in May was called as a technical draw after Churcher injured his right hand and it was deemed he was unable to continue due to an accidental injury.
“I’ll show people I’m much better than they’ve seen in the past and once I’ve dealt with Osben I want a rematch with Cooper for the Welsh title,” he added.
Top of the bill on Saturday night is Churcher’s St Josephs training mate Lee Selby taking on Scotland’s James Ancliff for the Celtic featherweight title.
Also in action will be Newport light-heavyweight Justyn Hugh against Phil Goodwin and Mountain Ash heavyweighht Dorian Darch making his pro debut against Bulgarian Tayer Mehmed.
The first fight starts at 8pm and tickets are available from 01179 496699.
