NEWPORT’S Pill Millennium Centre will host its first professional boxing show from 8pm tonight, writes Andrew Penman.
Top of the bill on the Chris Sanigar-promoted show will be Welsh featherweight champion Lee Selby’s attempt to win the Celtic featherweight title against Scotland’s James Ancliff.
Barry-born Selby trains at Newport’s St Josephs gym with Tony Borg and two of his training partners are also in action.
Newport middleweight Lee Churcher takes on Costas Osben and unbeaten light-heavyweight prospect Justyn Hugh, also from Newport, faces Phil Goodwin.
The pair were both in action in Plymouth on July 9 and both recorded knockout victories, Churcher winning in just 43 seconds.
Mountain Ash heavyweight Dorian Darch will make his pro debut against Bulgarian Tayer Mehmed.
The first fight starts at 8pm and tickets will be available on the door.
