Newport Hornets 35 Belle Vue Colts 55.
THIS huge-margined defeat was lessoned only because match referee Christina Turnbull abandoned the British National League meeting with one race remaining as rain lashed across Queensway Meadows Stadium on Sunday.
Engine problems, crashes and one or two controversial decisions by Miss Turnbull all hindered the Hornets, although it also has to be pointed out that the home side drastically underachieved.
Visiting rider Jason Garrity showed the talent which earned him the BLP Rider’s Championship trophy last week while every one of his team-mates contributed well to this success.
The Hornets were seeking to stretch their unbeaten home run to seven, but were simply outclassed in the day by a far better team.
