CROSS Keys look to maintain their Premiership bid after two excellent away wins when they entertain Swansea at Pandy Park this evening.

Greg Woods’ men are sixth in the table and on a high after beating fifth-placed Llanelli and second-placed Llandovery on their recent travels.

Head coach Woods hopes his Keys side can carry the form they showed in last week’s 15-10 victory over the Drovers into tonight’s clash.

“Last week’s win came after a fantastic performance that is up there with our best of the year,” he said. “Our back row of Rhys Williams, Cae Trayhern and Marc Popham were outstanding.”

And the three were so impressive that the coach is keeping them in the starting XV for the All Whites with captain and openside Rob Nash on the bench after missing last week’s success at Llandovery through suspension.

Keys do make one change up front with tighthead prop Craig Gould coming in and also leading the side on his 200th appearance for the club.

There are three changes in the backs with outside-half Steffan Jones back from Newport Gwent Dragons duty instead of Dean Gunter, wing Kristian Baller in for Nathan Trowbridge and centre Nathan Williams replacing Phil Williams.

Wing Marcus Johnstone, who made his 100th league appearance for Keys last week, will be looking to get plenty of ball in hand as he closes in on a club record.

He is just two behind fellow flyer Richie Nicholls as the club’s leading try scorer in the league.

Nicholls, who played for the Pandy Park side between 1990 and 2000, bagged 41 tries.

Woods said he can’t wait to take on the West Walians who could well field a strong squad as they look to make up for their last league away encounter.

Swansea became the first, and so far only, team to lose to the Premiership’s basement boys Tonmawr, losing to the Pitmen 19-17 at the beginning of February.

“With no regional game this weekend, Swansea could come to Pandy Park loaded with Ospreys,” Woods said.

“We will be looking to dictate the game to them up and down the field and we know they are a side who like to attack.”
