For out first home match of the 13-14 season we were pleased to invite both Eveswell School and Undy Rugby Academy to Rodney Parade.
Eveswell are one of our closest junior schools and have visited us every season since we formed in 2003. They have maintained a rugby ethos in all that time and always put out a team of boys and girls.
Undy have been responsible for developing the game in the countryside to the east of Newport for some years now and the Trust helped them with a small sponsorship s few seasons ago. The Trust also award an annual trophy to their Ultimate Support Player of the Season.
Both teams took part in the WRU Street Rugby Programme before kick off with our coach Joe Crocker before having a photo shoot on the famous Rodney Parade bench and then forming the Guard of Honour for the Llanelli and Newport teams to enter the field of play.
The mascot was Alyn Philpott of Undy who first received his award from Newport Hooker Andy Brown before leading out the team with skipper Lee Beech.
