The Friends of Newport Rugby Trust organise sponsors for all of the Newport RFC players each season on behalf of the club. So far we have raised approaching £12K this season and Trust secretary Kev Jarvis recently handed over a cheque for this to Rodney Parade commercial manager John Reid.
John played for the Black and Ambers at scrum half in the late 80’s and since joining the team in his new role has worked very closely with FoNR to develop fundraising activities with many new plans being drawn up between the two organisations.
John said ‘the way in which The Friends of Newport Rugby work to support rugby at Rodney Parade is very much appreciated by myself and the management team. We have a unique and prospering working relationship that allows the supporters to support financially and through volunteer efforts the teams at Rodney Parade. The money raised through the Newport RFC player sponsorship is very beneficial and we thank FoNR for all of their efforts to secure these funds.’
