Jess and Joe Bishop are old hands at being mascots now and have appeared consistently for several seasons now. Jess who is thirteen brings a bit of glamour to the job whilst Joe who is just ten let the nerves get the better of him and declined the task of leading out the team.
Jessie attends Newport High School and carried out the match ball with skipper Andy Brown. Beforehand both her and brother Joe who attends Malpas Church School met their favourite players; try machine Matt Pewtner and double centurion Scotty Williams. Scotty made two hundred appearances for Newport on the day.
We also had an added bonus for Jess as she had a picture taken with Newport record points scorer Dan Griffiths who is now with Bridgend.
Unfortunately it was Dan the Man who was smiling at full time as Bridgend won with a last minute conversion in a close and exciting game.
