I recently watched ‘Wicked’ in Cardiff for the first time.

Whilst I knew the story, nothing could have prepared me for how outstanding it was.

As a theatre lover, I felt as though I couldn’t call myself a real fan until I saw this specific musical.

It’s iconic and I can understand why. It’s a show that has been changing people’s lives for over 20 years.

There are so many different things I loved about the show.

Laura Pick and Sarah O’Connor were outstanding in their roles of Elphaba and Glinda.

Both of their voices were incredible, I found myself having to pick my jaw up off the floor more than once, they captured the sisterly dynamic perfectly.

At its core, this is a show about the deep-rooted love these women have for each other and for me, that’s what makes it so moving.

The costume designer, Susan Hilferty, could not have captured the essence of Oz more flawlessly.

Every single outfit worn on that stage was detailed and beautiful.

I felt like I had entered the world of Oz, and I never wanted to leave.

My favourite costumes were the Emerald City outfits, they were loud, extravagant, and green – perfect!

My mum once told me that the first time she watched ‘Wicked,’ it “made me understand why people love theatre.”

Whilst I’ve loved theatre for a long time, there is something about this show that makes me love it differently.

This is a show I will never forget.
